WHO WE ARE:
SCDC, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The corporation is organized under the Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for charitable and educational purposes. We are located in the Silver Springs Shores community of Ocala, Florida which is in Marion County.
WHAT WE DO:
We provide programs that benefit our community. SCDC is committed to strengthening families and contributing to the healthy development of young people. Therefore, we actively and consistently extend assistance to families in the community through our programs. Our programs include, but are not limited to, After School Tutoring, Summer Youth Mentoring Program, Homeschool Support, Food Pantry and services and programs for our Senior Community.
WE FACE THE CHALLENGES WITH YOU
Many families are experiencing intensified stress due to COVID-19 and the subsequent challenges it presents including increased unemployment, evictions, foreclosures, and the inability to meet financial obligations. Communities are experiencing a rise in violence, rioting, crime, drug infestation, and delinquent behavior. In addition, parents are facing new health and education decisions that affect the state of mind and well-being of their children. Do they risk sending them to school or attempt to navigate homeschooling when they must work and cannot afford a sitter or tutor? These are tough choices. At SCDC, we understand that families are feeling stressed, isolated, depressed, confused, and even lost. We are here to help.
OUR VALUES
SCDC values parents as the foundation of a successful and productive community. The healthy growth and development of children within a stable family structure is a proven asset to any community. The parents of SCDC are culturally and economically diverse. They are involved in their children’s progress and success. Our programs are designed to meet the specific needs of our community including bi-lingual (Spanish) literature and services. Our aim is to provide all children with quality education, mentoring and support services.
